Domestic Violence

We at Iorras Le Chéile want people to understand that they are not alone when it comes to dealing with domestic violence and that everyone has a right to a life free from violence and abuse. We are continually working to generate a zero tolerance to domestic violence in Erris. While individual support is given to men experiencing abuse, most of our work concentrates on Violence against Women. Iorras Le Chéile set up and facilitates a Local Area Network addressing violence against women, which has the aim of raising awareness and generating a community response to Domestic Violence. The Network meets every two months and is made up of individuals, community members and representatives from voluntary and statutory groups, including Mayo Women's Support Services and the Mayo Rape Crisis Centre.
